MS24: Collaborative Session from APCMfI (Asia-Pacific Consortium of Mathematics for Industry)

Europe has a proud tradition of using mathematical expertise to its advantage in industrial design and operations. The Asia-Pacific Consortium of Mathematics-for-Industry (APCMfI) has formal individual links with individual European industrial mathematicians and their professional associations. Using our shared language of mathematics, such as via this mini-symposium will help participants from both regions appreciate and collaborate on new problems that have potential socio-economic and environmental consequences. Although, depending on the setting of both nature and society, the national industrial emphases may be nuanced throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Those differences, however, may be bridged by common mathematical methods and modelling approaches that seem to be widely applicable. Those mathematical methods may be modified in response to new practical needs that generate mathematical questions that are intrinsically interesting.
